About Stick Men

Not only are Stick Men endlessly inventive musicians, they have even changed the way they physically play the instruments, utilizing sticks and drums to conjure up a world of unique sounds. Featuring Tony Levin, Markus Reuter and Pat Mastelotto, together the trio has collaborated with everyone from King Crimson and Peter Gabriel to Robert Fripp and John Lennon. The group takes its name from the Chapman Stick, an instrument that Levin has mastered and combines guitar and bass strings. Reuter plays a self-designed “touch guitar” and Mastelotto employs loops in samples in his drum kit – all creating a unique palette that combines prog, jazz and rock. With a new album, Prog Noir, on the way, Stick Men are a seamless trio of virtuosic musicians.
