Stanley Clarke Band

Stanley Clarke was a 20-year-old wunderkind on acoustic and electric basses when he first appeared with Chick Corea's Return to Forever in the early '70s. In the vanguard of the jazz-rock movement, his own solo albums featured an extremely diverse grouping of talent, at times including Jeff Beck, Jan Hammer and Tony Williams. His versatility allowed him to move seamlessly between jazz, classical, pop, and R&B styles, even expanding into producing albums for other artists. In the '80s, with longtime collaborator George Duke, he formed the pop-oriented Clarke/Duke Project. He also played in Stewart Copeland's Animal Logic and Ron Wood's New Barbarians. A four-time Grammy award-winner, Clarke is now touring with acoustic pianist Beka Goshiashvili, keyboardist Cameron Graves, and drummer Michael Mitchell. His recent album, UP, unveils an exciting mix of new and old compositions played by his band—alternating between acoustic and electric formats—and special guest performers. As a mature artist with a distinguished career, Stanley Clarke continues to enchant audiences, proving to be as vital a musician today as he was forty years ago.
