Spirit of '76

Spirit of '76 is Matt Hartle's own Grateful Dead & Jerry Garcia Band (JGB) tribute project. The band bills itself as either a JGB line-up or as a Grateful Dead line-up. Hartle scours the Grateful Dead music scene, putting together the finest combinations of Dead-musicians out there. Those who have seen either line-up know that when Spirit of '76 hits the stage, energy flows in waves, always fresh, new, and full of excitement about what is yet to come. Focusing on the late 1970's era of Jerry Garcia's work, Spirit of '76 often plays specific show set lists, although just as often they will create their own. Joining the band regularly are Amy Berry, Sunshine Becker, Matt Hartle, Jerry Brown, Steve Sofranko, Roger Sideman, Jeff Faust, Burt Lewis, Jimmy Hubbard, Paul Garcia, Mark Corsolini, Bret Bailey, Michael Owens. Special guests have included Melvin Seals and Tammi Brown.
