About "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", and Let It Bleed" albums, live!
The White Album Ensemble recreates Rolling Stone Magazine’s #1 album of all time - “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, along with era singles such as “Penny Lane”, and “Strawberry Fields Forever”, another
album too difficult to perform “live” (with the parts and feeling intact).
The opening set by the Beggar Kings will be a recreation of “Let It Bleed”, another late 1960’s landmark album. The Stones of course never “really” opened for the Beatles, but a friendly rivalry did exist, with humor, even its title
was a play on Beatles’ “Let It Be”!
Classics such as “Gimme Shelter”, “You Cant Always Get What you Want” offer a tasty contrast to the peace and love/ psychedelic Beatles of the period, the Stones
found their stride in mixing up Rock, Blues, and Soul, ironically a grittier, more “American” sound, no doubt thanks to the brilliant production of American Jimmy Miller, the keyboards of Nicky Hopkins, Billy Preston, choirs, horns, and the lead guitar virtuoso Mick Taylor, taking Brian Jones’ place after his death.
Again there will be a guitar raffle benefitting Guitars, not Guns at intermission.
Tickets will be available online at www.whitealbumensemble.com ( will call code #, bring receipt box office),
and physical tickets
will be available at Streetlight Records, Santa Cruz
Rio Theatre 1205 soquel Ave, Santa Cruz
