About Santa Cruz Symphony Concert - Pacific Perspectives

The Santa Cruz Symphony presents the works of two California composers. The concert opens with Sinfonia (2011), a wild and reflective work by the Symphony's own Maestro and Bay-Area native, Daniel Stewart. In Pacifika Rondo (1963), the world renowned composer and local icon Lou Harrison looks west to Asia and south to Latin America and weaves these cultural styles into a truly Californian work. The concert’s second half features the young virtuosic violinist Youjin Lee, 1st prize winner of the 2013 Klein International String Competition, performing Beethoven’s majestic and transcendent Violin Concerto.
