In her adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel, award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl brings to the stage the life the period-hopping, gender-bending Orlando. His transformative journey begins in the 16th century as the boy-toy lover of Queen Elizabeth, and concludes when Orlando has become a female poet in the 20th century. Along the way, we are invited to revel in this sweeping satire of English literature, gender roles, and sexual mores.
