About Santa Cruz Dance Week

SANTA CRUZ DANCE WEEK
Thursday, April 21 - Friday, April 29
SCDANCEWEEK.COM

It’s an entire week of dance and the whole country celebrates. But Santa Cruz Dance
Week, well, we don’t want to brag ... but it’s pretty spectacular.

Here’s what we’ve got going on:
?Dancing in the Streets: Thursday, 4/21 5:30-9:00pm, Cooper St. and Pacific Ave
Three stages, three hours, and hundreds of dancers—take a perch on Pacific Ave., maybe
grab a sandwich, find the perfect tree to lean against, and get ready to be amazed by
Santa Cruz’s incredible dance talent. This year’s event draws performers from all over the
country and if the photos don’t already captivate you—how do they get their leg so
high?!—then seeing it in person will blow you away. We’ve got a David Bowie-inspired
flash mob to wrap up the evening’s festivities, lead by Brynne Flidais and Moveintuit.

?Open Classes: 4/23 - 4/29
The beauty of dance is that anyone and everyone can do it. Maybe you like to get jiggy at
the club, shake it off after a long day at work, or just bob your head along to classics like
Dirty Dancing. No matter what age or experience level, it’s never too late start dancing.
And above all, it’s fun. That’s why local studios are offering over one hundred dance
classes of all genres and levels to anyone who wants to take them, for just $10. Yes,
really—$10!

?Dance in Unlikely Places: 4/22 4/24
Dance can be everywhere, and this week it will be. Keep your eyes open and your
dancing shoes ready for flash mobs taking to the streets, restaurants, cafes, bookshops
and beyond. And if the groove has got you moving, join in—the finale event is an
all-inclusive flashmob on April 21. It’s the place for pedestrians to become dancers and
strangers to become friends—Santa Cruz Dance Week has that effect on people. Trust us,
we’re dancers.
