About 'Sand Wars' Film Screening

?The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is home to the last beach sand mining operation in the United States. The mine is accelerating shoreline erosion, which is costing the public millions in tax dollars and destroying marine wildlife habitats.

Longtime marine conservation nonprofit, Save Our Shores, is gathering at Patagonia in downtown Santa Cruz on Thursday, March 10th, from 7-10pm to build awareness with a film screening of Sand Wars. The documentary dives into the environmental, economic, and social impact of coastal sand mining. After the screening, Save Our Shores will be discussing solutions with an expert panel featuring policymakers and marine scientists. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and an appetite. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided by Whole Foods and Uncommon Brewers of Santa Cruz. Get involved at saveourshores.org/sand
