About Red Light Lit with David Williams + Dorota Szuta

Red Light Lit is a collective of writers, musicians, and artists who explore love relationships and sexuality through spoken word and song. Join us for an intimate evening of music, storytelling and poetry alongside a live score by David Williams.

David Williams is an American musician, songwriter, film composer, singer, teacher, actor, traveler, born in Miami Fla., and currently living in San Francisco. David has contributed to more than 20 albums and recorded 6 of his own. INTRO is a feature film starring David Williams which showcases his stripped bare songs and unusual lifestyle. The film was nominated alongside Scorsese and Herzog for Best International Documentary at the Torino Film Festival in Italy. His songs have also appeared on NPR. David's live performance is explosive, haunting, and highly original, and he has shared stages with some of the most widely known artists today. Also, a unique and inspiring teacher, David has shared his wide range of expertise with students from all over the country for over 20 years.

Whichever art form Dorota Szuta explores, she does so with methodical swiftness and lightness. She adds harmony to songs, in a what-was male dominated art form, she becomes the subtle spotlight. Her lyrics, like her art, are minimal and wondrous, with an inescapable bout of nineties goof. Perhaps simple in stroke, her songs feel everlasting in truth. In both her music and art she is bold- maybe you noticed from the butts she drew, or the words she sang, but with them comes a softness and tenderness, making her an elastic powerhouse of whatever she involves herself with.

The linocuts of "quick and dirty" are a view to the sweet and languid humanity we experience, yet hide, in our day to day. The series centers around themes of sensuality and intimacy with a hint of erotica.
