Qing Ming Festival and Work Party

Make your mark and restore local Chinese history.

Join the Evergreen Restoration Committee in a work party to celebrate the Chinese cultural holiday of Qing Ming.
Qing Ming is about honoring the departed spirits of your family members. This is traditionally celebrated by cleaning their grave sites and making an offering. MAH’s Evergreen Cemetery Restoration Committee has been working for years to restore this historic site. This work includes the addition of the Chinese Memorial Gate to honor the Chinese migrants who are buried in the Cemetery.

We’ll be working to restore the cemetery and clean up some of the vegetation that has grown this past winter. Gloves, tools, and water will be provided to our workers. All volunteers are welcome.
George Ow, Jr. will also give a talk about the Chinese community in Santa Cruz beginning at 11:45 am.
