American composer Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs create delicate and poignant musical postcards from Hebrew poems presented to him by his wife, soprano Hila Plitmann.
Picasso Ensemble will premier a new trio composed in 2016 by John Robinson. This is his third piano trio composed expressly for Picasso Ensemble. Entitled “Disco-cioso” the crossover work draws from the worlds of disco, blues, and jazz. A native New Yorker, Robinson is a multi-gifted composer, jazz bassist, cellist, and recorder virtuoso Picasso Ensemble will perform “Disco-cioso” again on January 28th and 29th at the annual benefit concerts of music by African American Composers at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto.
Performers: Susan C. Brown, violin, Victoria Ehrlich, cello, Jodi Gandolfi, piano, Wendy Hillhouse, mezzo-soprano
