About Picasso Ensemble 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert

Now in their 20th season of presenting concerts at the historic ballroom of the Sesnon House at Cabrillo College, the Picasso Ensemble offers a celebratory program on April 9, 2017 at 3:00pm.
The program features favorites from past seasons and works new to their repertoire. They will perform Rameau's ornate and fanciful "Trio in A Major," Piazzolla's stirring Tango, "Winter," California composer D'Arcy Reynold's impressionistic "El Corazon Verano," William Grant Still's "Miniatures: settings of folk music of the Americas," Joshua McGhee's Variations on an African Spiritual "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" (a Picasso Ensemble commission), and romantic Spanish composer, Turina's "Trio No. 2." Mezzo-Soprano, Michele Rivard will perform excerpts from Copland's popular "Old American Songs" and Karen Lindford's settings of local children's poetry in Spanish.
Performers: Susan C. Brown, violin; Josephine Gandolfi, piano; Victoria Ehrlich, cello; Wendy Hillhouse, mezzo-soprano.
