Pedrito Martinez Group

Dubbed “Africa-to-the-New-World Funk” by The New York Times, the Pedrito Martinez Group is one of the most lauded Afro-Cuban groups on the scene today. A conguero and singer since the age of eleven, bandleader Pedrito Martinez has collaborated with legendary musicians from Paquito D’Rivera to Sting, and brings fresh influences to his namesake group. Richly incorporating rumba and guaguanco traditions into their performances, the group is known for high-energy performances that defy you to stay in your seat. Their latest release, Habana Dreams, was recorded largely in Cuba, marking a new era in the exchange of Cuban music overseas.
