About One Night Only

The UC Santa Cruz Music Department shows off four of its faculty artists with One Night Only, a showcase concert featuring music by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), as well as traditional Celtic folk music.

Violinist Roy Malan, former concertmaster of the San Francisco Ballet, and faculty pianist Maria Ezerova open the program with Schubert's Sonata in A major, D.574, op. 162. Richard Roper, trumpet, performs de Falla's Canciones Populares Españolas with pianist Elizabeth Poole.

The second half of the evening program spotlights guitarist William Coulter, performing with the trio One Lane Bridge, with Aria DiSalvo (cello) and John Weed (violin). Fusing folk styles from Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and Spain with modern influences, One Lane Bridge, offers something both ancient and cutting edge.
