Kick off your Monterey Jazz Festival weekend with a preview of the best high school musicians in the country. The Next Generation Jazz Orchestra brings together twenty-one of the most talented young jazz musicians from around the United States under the direction of Paul Contos. They perform at select Monterey Bay sites – including Kuumbwa Jazz – before their grand finale at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Woodwinds: Eric Nakanishi – alto; Immanuel Wilkins – alto; Tim Murphy – tenor; Morgan Guerin – tenor; Kaelen Ghandhi – baritone; Trombones: Andrew Munoz, Abdulrahman Amer, Nicholas Lee, Jasim Perales, Ethan Noel Santos. Trumpets: Jonah Moss, Carlos Ramos, Anthony Hervey, Evan Abounassar, Jeremy Alvarez. Rhythm: Chris Fishman – piano; Kanoa Mendenhall – bass; Joseph Bell –guitar; Timothy Angulo – drums; Jared Silverstein – drums; and Claire Dicksen – vocals.
