New Music Works "Because"

BECAUSE ~ More than a preposition, more than a concert.

This is a very special concert - not just with topnotch composers and guest artists, but with a larger aim as well, to dismantle some of the musical hierarchy which has traditionally declared that popular music can't be art.
And yes, DANCING IS ENCOURAGED!

BECAUSE involves different listening experiences. In a kind of big-tent way, the evening spans musical genres that would normally be featured at entirely different venues.

The Because evening begins as a conventional sit-down chamber recital, highlighting virtuosic instrumental flights via works by living composers, Frank Pesci, Jon Scoville, John Thomas and others.

Choral music follows with outrageous and outrageously beautiful new compositions by local composers Larry Polansky and Christopher Pratorius. Not to mention Liverpoolians, John Lennon & Paul McCartney.

Akindele Bankole's kinetic blending of classical music training and Nigerian Highlife rock style has brought about amazing, infectuous grooves that audiences have not been able to stay seated for. And we hope that's the case.

On the heels (wings) of Akindele Bankole's three songs, the concert's finale brings together a full cast rendition of the Beatles' All You Need Is Love."
