About Naturalist Night: The Lighthouse Keeper's Legacy

Did you know that our museum began in the 1870s as a private seashell collection inside a lighthouse? Or that the museum building was originally the Seabright Branch Library, built in 1915? Or that the museum once operated a public aquarium on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf? Join speaker and local historian Frank Perry, who began researching the history of the museum over 35 years ago and wrote the text for the museum’s centennial exhibit in 2005. This evening we will explore the history of our museum from its 19th century beginnings to the present.
