Naturalist Night: Social Lives of Sparrows

Join us for a discussion with UCSC professor Bruce Lyon as we explore the winter social ecology of migratory golden-crowned sparrows in the UCSC Arboretum. Bruce and his team have discovered unsuspected complex social patterns—individuals form close lifelong winter partnerships with other sparrows. Learn how social signals like plumage variation and winter singing (by both males and females) is connected to these striking patterns of social organization.
