About Naturalist Night: Santa Cruz County's Diverse North Coast

Santa Cruz County’s North Coast is extraordinarily diverse with varied ecosystems, wildlife, plants, soils, and geology. Through slides and stories featuring specific places along the North Coast, Dr. Grey Hayes will illustrate this diversity. We’ll cover coastal marine terraces and their vast coastal prairies, poor soiled ridges with unusual maritime chaparral, canyons and creeks harboring interesting fish, caves, and amphibians, and the many types of forests that weave between those systems. Learn about these special ecosystems as well as what threatens them and how you can help.

On the Saturday following this talk, Dr. Grey Hayes will lead a guided hike through Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve to further the discussion and to share the beauty and diversity of the habitats included in the lecture.

Preregistration highly recommended. $12 General | $6 Child | Members 50% off.
