October 26 - December 11, 2016

Join us for Mi Casa es Tu Casa Pajaro Valley Arts’ annual exhibit inspired by Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) a traditional holiday in Mexico that celebrates ancestors and others who have passed away. Altars (ofrendas) are built in homes to honor and remember the dead. Similar customs exist throughout the world and we share common ground with many cultures in our desire to honor and remember those whom we have lost.

Each year, we invite community groups and artists into our “home/casa” to pay tribute to those who have passed. This year, our curatorial team asked our participants to honor personal loss; those whose lives were lost due to violence; and the peacekeepers who have positively affected our lives.

Nine schools and seven community groups are presenting altars/installations, and forty-eight individual artists are presenting two-dimensional work.

As you experience this community-based show, you will put names and faces, to the Ayotzinapa 43, through the exquisite work by local printmakers, honoring the young men from Guerra Mexico who went missing in 2014. You will be inspired and delighted by the heartfelt installations by young and old that range from pets and family, to Buddha and Mother Theresa.

Come join us for our 24th year celebration of MI CASA ES TU CASA!
