About Liberation Movement + The Dogon Lights

The Dogon Lights are a Red Hot World Fusion Group. “Trans- Global Psychedelic Groove”. The Dogon Lights (pronounced “Doe-Gone”) are a unique and groundbreaking band, combining elements of Hip-Hop, Electronica, and African music. A self- described “Afro-Galactic Groove Machine,” The Dogon Lights create an undeniably shamanic and energetic dance atmosphere that catapults the listener straight to the stars. The Dogon Lights play traditional skin and wood instruments, including the Moroccan Sintir, Malian Kamele-Ngoni, and the Chinese jaw harp. They weave the trance grooves of these instruments over hip-hop beats with Electronica, Hendrix guitar and celestial vocals. The Dogon Lights features members of the award-winning band Hamsa Lila and members that have toured with Bassnectar, Beats Antique and The Mickey Hart Band.

The Dogon Lights have opened for the Grammy Award-winning group Tinariwen as well as Bombino, from Niger, the artist who recently reached the top of the world music charts. They have also played many festivals and conferences including Symbiosis, Lightning in a Bottle, Envision, Beloved Presents, Joshua Tree Music Festival and many others
