About Latino Role Models

The 10th annual Latino Role Models conference will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Cabrillo College’s Crocker Theater from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The conference is free and breakfast and snacks will be provided. Students in grades 6 through college and their parents are encouraged to attend this exciting conference featuring Latino professionals and college student speakers along with workshops to inspire students to achieve their dreams for college and career. The conference will be conducted in Spanish with English translation.

Erandi García from Univisión will moderate the conference. The featured speakers will be Lorenzo Gamboa, Senior Associate Director, Santa Clara University Admissions, and Jolisa Espinoza, Candidate Engagement Program Specialist, Facebook.

Workshops will include:
• How to Choose a College Major
• Cabrillo College Admissions
• Financial Aid
• DACA and Know Your Rights
• Dream Resource Program
• Thriving Immigrants Collaborative

Cabrillo, UCSC, CSUMB and community organizations will also provide information. Last year over 400 students and parents attended.

This conference is a collaboration of: Cabrillo College, Live Oak School District, Mexican Consulate - San Jose, Pajaro Valley Unified School District, Santa Cruz City Schools, Santa Cruz County Office of Education, Senderos, and Soquel Union Elementary School District.
