About La Boheme Santa Cruz

An original play with music and drama, portraying the lives of residents at Carmelita Cottages in the 1880-90s. When Henry Thompson (aka Enrico de Tomaso) returns to Santa Cruz after seven years in opera, he meets a young piano teacher, Lottie Dame, and his life begins to change. The cast features young singers in acting roles with sample arias and songs from the 1800s. Joshua Hughes, a bass-baritone from Palo Alto performs the lead role. The other singers are from UCSC: Rubina Mazurka, soprano, as Lottie; Jennifer Park, mezzo, as Grace Williamson; and Jackson Brivic, tenor, as Rollin Case. Supporting roles are played by Santa Cruz residents: Michael Edwards debuts as Captain Dame, Nicolette Nasr takes on Ellen Dame, and Emma Edwards plays young Lottie. Two surprise performers appear in the “Garden Party” scene.

Space is limited, so please reserve your free seat. Contributions for the production and the singers will be gratefully received on the day of the performance.
