About Joshua Redman Quartet

Joshua Redman has carved out an amazing career since entering the jazz zeitgeist twenty-five years ago when he won the 1991 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone competition. Almost immediately he found himself working with the crème de la crème of the jazz world. He toured and recorded with Dewey Redman (his father), Charlie Haden, Elvin Jones, and Pat Metheny, among many other top artists. As a bandleader, Redman has led some of the most intriguing ensembles in contemporary jazz, including his recent work with The Bad Plus. He was the artistic director for the SFJAZZ Collective—a special group with a revolving roster of talent that featured Bobby Hutcherson, Eric Harland and other members of the jazz elite. For someone who never gave much thought to becoming a professional musician in his younger years, Redman has made a huge impact on today's music. In fact, the former Harvard summa cum laude was headed for Yale Law School before a “detour” into New York City's jazz scene put him on course to becoming the award-winning, critically acclaimed musician he is today. His current group is among his finest, and consists of pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Greg Hutchinson.
