About John Patitucci Electric Guitar Quartet

A native of Brooklyn, John Patitucci first picked up the bass at the age of ten, began performing and composing when he was twelve, and hasn’t stopped since. One of the top-call bassists in jazz, his resume is a veritable who’s-who of jazz: Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Nancy Wilson, Herbie Hancock; and rockers Sting, Joni Mitchell, Bon Jovi and more. A master of the six-string, electric bass, Patitucci has enjoyed success writing for chamber groups and has now added a new group to his oeuvre with his Electric Guitar Quartet. Having made their recording debut on Patitucci’s latest album, Brooklyn, the quartet features guitarists Adam Rogers, Steve Cardenas and drummer Nate Smith. The tone of the project takes its cues from Patitucci’s early years growing up in the New York City borough, and was released with an accompanying documentary film, including interviews, performance, rehearsal and recording footage. The music takes on a chamber music like approach at times, with it’s deliberate interplay and arrangement of stringed instruments.
