Jazz Jam Santa Cruz

"Old school" refers to the protocol of this jam. Most often the band leader will call a tune and then ask for people to come to the bandstand if they wish to play on that tune. The catch - NO CHARTS. There is a master list of tunes. The called tunes fall into 4 or 5 major progression/style types and players must come prepared to play in those forms. The goal of this jam is to inspire players in the community to work to become better players and band members, and to continue to elevate the music produced by the participants as a whole.
