About Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra: Wynton Marsalis

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has been going strong for over 25 years. Founded by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, the original line-up consisted of Wynton's septet with former members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and currently features fifteen of the best all-around musicians in jazz today. Marsalis, the first jazz composer to receive a Pulitzer Prize (for Blood on the Fields), conceived the idea of preserving and advancing America's art form through the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra's performances. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra celebrates all eras of jazz from traditional to modern, even expanding into the music of contemporary popular artists. Their latest recording on the Blue Engine Records label is Live in Cuba.
