About House People Not Cars

How parking reform can lower our housing costs

5:00 Happy Hour; 5:30, presentation

In places like San Francisco apartment or condo dwellers can enjoy big savings by option out of paying for parking spaces. Our local government does not allow this option. Instead we have outdated parking requirements that drive up the cost of new housing.

In our neighborhoods, the requirement for “covered parking” means you can park your car in your garage, but you can’t let anyone sleep there.

The Campaign for Sensible Transportation is advocating for parking reform, beginning with alternatives to building a new parking garage at the site of the Downtown Farmers Market.
