About Guided Hike: Insects and More at Mima Meadow

Walk through UCSC's Mima Meadow and it's easy to see signs of life, from buzzing bumblebees to blooming flowers. What's less obvious, and what we'll explore in this guided hike on Saturday, August 10, is the complexity of this ecosystem located on the edge of a forest. Join the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History for a walk of discovery as we hunt for insects, spiders and other hidden gems of the meadow, including host plants and predators. Learn how an ecosystem is more than just a collection of species.

This hike will be led by entomologist Peter Oboyski, Collections Manager of UC Berkeley's Essig Museum of Entomology, and Alex Krohn, Assistant Director of UC Santa Cruz's Ken Norris Center for Natural History. Preregistration is required for directions and details, so be sure to save your spot in advance: https://bit.ly/2TyjVKm
