Forro Party

We have begun a tradition with our monthly Forró parties. The group "Forró Pikasso" has been gaining popularity in the Bay Area and is returning to Santa Cruz on March 25th! Don't miss this fabulous group of musicians and the chance to taste a different flavor of Brazil! Proceeds from this event go to support work and events put on by the Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange and benefit the Raízes do Brazil Scholarship fund.

If this is your first time:
Different from what you might expect, people in Brazil usually do not dance Salsa but Forró. Forró has also been booming in Europe for quite some time now and, in recent years, started to infiltrate the U.S..

Our party will start with an introductory course for beginners: you learn the basic steps which you can practice later on during the party. It's possible to participate without a partner! So don't let that keep you away from a fun night of fantastic music and warm Brazilian culture.
