FIRST FRIDAY: “La Difference” Photography by George Haas and Studio Nudibranch
About FIRST FRIDAY: “La Difference” Photography by George Haas and Studio Nudibranch
This is a Downtown Santa Cruz First Friday Art Show
George Haas Photography celebrates “La Difference”, through different perspectives on preferences, using a variety of artistic styles, from the edgy to the sublime. And Studio Nudibranch presents a series of male nudes featuring model Craig Brown; a study in contrast and unexpected negative space, pretty and a little naughty.
George Haas finds great beauty in those who dare to be different. He enjoys playing with color, light, and composition, experimenting in a variety of styles, often in collaboration with other artists. He likes to work respectfully, organically, using minimal direction, letting a photo session develop naturally. A word to the wise; he loves taking candid’s. http://haasphoto.smugmug.com/
Developing photographer Gregory Manning created Studio Nudibranch to publish his explorations of the boundary zones where eroticism meets fine art, and fine art meets the unacceptable. With today's overwhelming tsunami of imagery, where a mouse click can bring a viewer anything from timeless masterpieces to grainy, unspeakable deviance, it is crucially important to find a different perspective, something orthogonal to the direction of the flood tide. So, trained in both visual arts and computer science, Manning has no qualms about using both computer and camera to find ways of showing the viewer what's there, but what the eye alone will never perceive. Searching for new visions, and some dry ground above the flood, he is guided by the Zen koan, "Where others dwell I do not dwell. Where others go I do not go." http://www.modelmayhem.com/3281373
