About Exploring the San Lorenzo River: Earth Day BioBlitz

The San Lorenzo River watershed is home to birds and bugs, fish and funghi, you and me! Explore the river ecosystem during the 2nd Annual Exploring the San Lorenzo River Series hosted by the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History and the Coastal Watershed Council. Learn from local naturalists, scientists and artists during this FREE weekly series, held at a different location along the river every Saturday now through April 21.

Saturday, April 21: Earth Day BioBlitz
A BioBlitz is a period of biological surveying where people photograph and record all the living species they can identify within a designated area. A BioBlitz provides a snapshot of the biodiversity and can be used as a tool for further study by scientists and researchers who would like to learn more about the population size and distribution of certain organisms.

On Earth Day 2018, you’re invited to join the Coastal Watershed Council and Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History for the 2nd Annual BioBlitz along the San Lorenzo River. This is the culminating event of the Exploring the San Lorenzo River Series. What better way to put your new knowledge of the San Lorenzo River ecosystem and wicked identification skills to use. Work with fellow naturalists, nature enthusiasts, scientists, and volunteers to study and record the biodiversity along the lower San Lorenzo River.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Visit https://coastal-watershed.org/event/exploring-san-lorenzo-river-bioblitz/ to register for this free event and to find out the exact meeting location.
