Experience Our Ocean's Cultural History with British Singer Dick Holdstock

A rare chance to locally experience our ocean's Living Cultural History! British folk singer Dick Holdstock has toured all over North America performing and teaching traditional sailor songs to chantey singers of the next generation. This month, Dick will drive all the way from Davis down to Santa Cruz to join regular co-host Aaron Clegg at The Davenport Roadhouse's Monthly Chantey Sing. It's a FREE Community Singalong. Everyone is encouraged to lead any sailor songs they know. Sea chanteys intentionally have choruses that are easy to learn on the fly, so you don't need any singing experience or chantey knowledge to jump right in. It's also Taco Tuesday, with $4 tacos and beer on tap. Kids are encouraged to come watch their parents get goofy singing with a bunch of other fun-loving adults.Don't be surprised if Dick spices up the evening with a few bawdy English drinking songs. You might want to bring your own chair, just to make sure you won't end up standing.
