About Emerging Visions: Creative Practice at the Nexus of Freedom and Justice
The Eloise Pickard Smith Gallery at the University of California Santa Cruz is proud to present “Emerging Visions: Creative Practice at the Nexus of Freedom and Justice.” The exhibition features works by twelve artists and independent presses that span the genres of photography, performance, multimedia installation, printmaking, zines, and artists’ books. Taking the writings of thinkers such as speculative fiction author Octavia Butler and and social justice facilitator adrienne maree brown as inspiration, “Emerging Visions” features artists who expand how freedom can be enacted by embedding that which is spectacular and radical into everyday life.
