About Dick Dale
ROLLING STONE 100 GREATEST GUITARISTS OF ALL TIME!
GUITAR LEGEND DICK DALE IS THE Creator and Pioneer and the FIRST TO CREATE AND PIONEER HIS OWN GENRE OF MUSIC CALLED SURF/ ROCK MUSIC IN 1955.
Dick Dale invented surf music in the 1950's. Not the '60's as is commonly believed. He was given the title "King of the Surf Guitar" by his fellow surfers with whom he surfed with from sun-up to sun-down. He met Leo Fender the guitar and amplifier Guru and Leo asked Dale to play his newly creation, the Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar. The minute Dale picked up the guitar, Leo Fender broke into uncontrolled laughter and disbelief, he was watching Dale play a right handed guitar upside down and backwards, Dale was playing a right handed guitar left handed and changing the chords in his head then transposing the chords to his hands to create a sound never heard before.
Dick and Leo Fender Created and Pioneered The Fender Equipment in the 1950s/1960s.
Dick Ignited California's surfing cult in the late 1950s and 1960s with such regional hits as ???Mr. Peppermint Man???,
???King of the Surf Guitar???, ???Let???s Go Trip-pin'," "Surf Beat" and "Miserlou," Dale to name a few and made waves with his fat, edgy sound and aggressive, proto-metal attack. "Miserlou," released in 1962, marked the first use of a Fender reverb unit ??? creating an underwater sound with lots of echo ??? on a popular record. However, Dick Dale music came from wild animals roaring, Gene Krupas drum rhythm and the indigenous people dancing and nothing more. Dick played upside down and backwards, left handed. The only guitarist to do so.
DD was named the second most influential guitarist on the planet.
DD surfed in the but some of the music was classified at that time by
some surfers DD knew and surfed with.
Dick???s music Sparked a surf/Rock music revival when director Quentin Tarantino used it in the opening scene of Pulp Fiction as Quentin Loved Dick Dale and wrote the movie around Dick???s music in 1993.
Dick is the Master and always will be as he created and Pioneered Surf/Rock Music in 1955 marking 60+ years in the business. Hail to the King! Dick as well Created Pioneered Fender Equipment.
Dick plays and performs all kinds of music since 1955 age 18 ..61+ years in the business.
Dick once owned two of the largest nightclubs in which he built ground up in 1967 ???one called the Rendezvous 2/Playgirl Club. Both were ran by Dick Dale as he hired the largest acts of the day in Vegas and as well performed in both nightclubs and cooked too.
Dick plays over 15 different instruments self taught and plays Beast Guitar left handed upside down and backwards.
Dick is now 79 years old. His Wife Lana Dale and he both battle major medical issue and have for over 20+ years now.
Long Live the King of Rock!
