About Courage & Connection | Cabrillo Festival Orchestra Concert

Marin Alsop kicks off Cabrillo Festival's second weekend with Scherzo Crypto, a work by long-time assistant principal oboist of the Festival Orchestra, Alexander Miller. Jennifer Higdon’s Violin Concerto earned her a Pulitzer Prize, and tonight receives its West Coast premiere with concertmaster Justin Bruns as soloist. Composer/DJ/electronica artist Mason Bates was recently appointed the Kennedy Center’s first ever composer-in-residence, and has had five works performed previously at Cabrillo. Bates will perform in his work The B-Sides, a symphony in five movements for orchestra and electronica.
