Contra Cruz! Double feature contra dance

Enjoy a double feature contra dance, with potluck dinner from 5-6 p.m.! Opening with Tempest in a Teacup (Daniel Steinberg, Adrianna Ciccone, Sumaia Jackson) and Susan Petrick calling. Closing with the WHOOTS (Shira Kammen, Jim Oakden, and Noel Cragg) and Erik Hoffman calling. New and experienced dancers are all encouraged to attend a free lesson from 1:30-2:00 p.m.

Everyone is welcome! Bringing a partner is not required, and prior dancing experience is not necessary. Contra dance is a traditional New England style of folk dancing, in which each dance is taught and prompted by a caller. During each dance, partners “progress” up or down the hall, eventually dancing with everyone else in the line. Dances are high-energy, playful, social and set to live music. Wear comfortable, non-marking shoes, and comfortable loose-fitting light-weight clothing (twirly skirts are great fun too!).

Suggested admission donation is $22 regular, $12 for full-time students w ID card.
