Have you ever wondered how people make pottery? What a real working ceramics studio looks like? Whether you could learn to make something useful, beautiful or creative? What that crazy little building with the colorful front across from Ben Lomond Market is?

Here’s your chance to find out all that and more. Come to Ceram-a-Rama 2018 and play in the clay! We’ll have experts showing you what they do. Places for you to play on the wheel and by hand. Crazy contests. Items for sale. Food to buy. Lots to look at. A peek at our facility. And dozens of really nice people who will be happy to answer your questions about what you can do at the Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center ceramics studio.

There will be a mix of education, action and fun at Ceram-A-Rama! This year our demonstrators, Yumiko Aso and Carlos Dye, will give insight into achieving dramatic results with their years of experience. The throwing wheels will be set out in the yard and a hand-building area will be available to allow adults and children to try their hands at working with clay. Our wheel contests are always a fun way to watch others throw amazingly tall pieces or even throw blindfolded! We will offer kiln-fired pizza and salads served in our own handmade bowls, along with beverages and other homemade goodies. The entire day’s event will showcase ceramics in action and why we all love to work and play at SCMAC!

Open for all ages and admission is free! Drop by any time between noon and 4:00pm on May 19.
