About BUFFALO SUNN
Pride of the Irish: Buffalo Sunn to Represent Ireland on 2015 Passport Approved West Coast USA Tour
Compared to The Byrds and The Stone Roses, Irish faves set sights on the States after building solid following in Europe
“Accessible and warm, By The Ocean, By The Sea is the first step in what will surely be a bright career for Buffalo Sunn.” (GoldenPlec)
(Los Angeles, CA) – February 6, 2015
The Musebox today announced that Buffalo Sunn have been invited to join the 2015 Passport Approved West Coast USA tour in February and March, alongside New Beat Fund, Scarlette, Forest Blakk!, and These Reigning Days. Later in March, Buffalo Sunn will be one of only ten Irish acts to be added to this year’s SXSW music festival. Compared to The Byrds and The Stone Roses and led by lead singer Daniel Paxton, Buffalo Sunn blend sounds from the 1960’s and the present day, mixing big reverb-laden harmonies with carefully placed guitars to produce what Festival and Gig Guide describe as “a beautiful and atmospheric vibe that is sure to deliver.” Under their previous moniker, Sweet Jane, Buffalo Sunn opened for a host of international acts, including Suede, The Besnard Lakes, and Glasvegas. Buffalo Sunn’s debut album, By The Ocean, By The Sea, was released in Ireland in October 2014 to great reviews and a top 15 chart position. It was produced by Pat McCarthy (The Waterboys, REM, Madonna, U2). Passport Approved has been credited by the global music industry with playing a part in pushing artists such as Adele, Lorde, Lily Allen, The Temper Trap, Gotye, The Ting Tings and hundreds of others on to global success. More information on Buffalo Sunn is available on the band’s official website.
Buffalo Sunn have gained a reputation for being a formidable live band, noted for their three-part vocal harmonies, with inventive guitars and percussion. Channeling the West Coast sound “like a punked up Crosby Stills and Nash,” Buffalo Sunn superbly mix melody and their guitar attack, with songwriter/vocalist Paxton masterminding the band’s sound.
“With memorable hooks and touching lyrics, this is the sort of inspiring stuff that sticks with you. This is why Buffalo Sunn will triumph. Honest and bold, “By Your Side” will come out and touch the hearts of thousands.”

Paxton is joined by his brother Conor on bass and pedal steel guitar, Patrick McHugh on guitar and backing vocals, Jimmy Cullen on keys and backing vocals, and Donagh O’Brien on drums. In October 2013, the band emerged from the ashes of Sweet Jane, fueled by a change in musical direction, style, and line-up that eventually became Buffalo Sunn.
Buffalo Sunn are no strangers to the festival circuit, having played CMJ, Music Matters in Singapore, and Hardworking Class Heroes. They also performed at Ireland’s two biggest festivals, Oxegen and Electric Picnic.
Buffalo Sunn will hitting radio stations and clubs along the U.S. West Coast on the A+R Worldwide Passport Approved tour. After performing at SXSW later in March, Buffalo Sunn will return to the U.S. in April as one of only a few bands invited to play the prestigious Musexpo industry event in Los Angeles.
