About Book to Action Kick Off Event

This April, SCPL sponsors Book-to-Action, a month-long series of events fostering community dialog and civic engagement with the ideas presented in the best-selling work, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. Highlights include a kick-off event on April 3rd, free copies of the book, a tour of Santa Cruz County Jail, as well as book discussion groups throughout the County.

Tour Barrios Unidos' prison cell model. Pick-up a free copy of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. And stay for a talk by UCSC Sociology Professor Craig Reinarman giving an overview and update on Alexander's work.
