About Billy Childs Quartet

As a pianist, composer, and arranger, Billy Childs has forged an impressive body of work over the past four decades, often drawing together the worlds of jazz and classical music. A three-time Grammy award-winner for his compositions and arrangements, Childs has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship (2006) and was chosen for the 2013 Doris Duke Performing Artist Award. His creative collaborations have encompassed a dynamic range of artists, from Yo-Yo Ma and Sting to Jack DeJohnette and the Detroit Symphony. Childs’ latest recording, a tribute to the late songwriter Laura Nyro, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro, was just nominated for three Grammy awards. This quartet features Steve Wilson (alto, soprano sax, flute), Hans Glawischnig (bass) and Johnathan Blake (drums).
