Good Times pick for Best Local Musician in 2016
“In a world filled with negativity, Shaw brings us a feeling good, gutsy set of songs. No facade with Shaw, this Santa Cruz-based songwriter, singer and surfer bares his soul through words and music leaving you feeling positive and hopeful” – Innocent Words Magazine
Santa Cruz, CA, based singer-songwriter Austin Shaw spent the spring on a national sold-out tour with David Bromberg followed by a handful of July dates with dada and in-between he wrapped up recording on his debut full-length album FELT, due out on September 15, with an album release party and show at Kuumbwa Jazz Club on September 16,
Earlier this year Shaw released an EP comprised of selections from his forthcoming album Felt. Both the EP and new album are produced by Robert L. Smith (Defy Recordings,) and feature the talents of guitarist Larry Saltzman (Paul Simon,) drummer Joe Bonadio (Sting,) bassist Malcolm Gold and vocalist Clara Lofaro.
”The emotional and passionate material mines very personal themes rooted in love, loss, longing, and self-discovery” --The Art of LA
Felt, dives deep into the human spirit, expressing the pain, joy and complications of life in a way we’ve all felt. Shaw was joined in the studio by Robert L. Smith (Producer/Defy Recordings,) and the album features the talents of guitarist Larry Saltzman (Paul Simon,) drummer Joe Bonadio (Sting,) bassist Malcolm Gold and vocalist Clara Lofaro.
“Shaw has a knack for storytelling in his music which is a welcome thing in an industry seemingly overrun with fluff songs lacking substance to sink your teeth into”
