ARTIST TALK : Light//Form
About ARTIST TALK : Light//Form
THE TALK
Join us Light//Form exhibitors Aron Altmark and Rachel Stoll on Sunday, June 24 at 2:00pm. The artists will discuss the sculptures created with LED lights and how it is linked to data from the San Lorenzo River.
THE SHOW
Light//Form weaves art and technology to create an interactive experience tied to the San Lorenzo River data driving the sculpture River Motion*. This exhibition provides new ways for participants to connect with their surrounding environments. Sensors located within Radius will allow viewers’ motion to influence some of the pieces, including a projected version of the Soquel Bridge and data being used in the physical installation. Other compositions focus on the physical use of light to create shape and environment. Light//Form invites other artists in sound and dance to create within the installation.
THE ARTISTS
Aron Altmark is a CalArts Alumni and first fell in love with light through a camera lens. His first endeavors were in theater and dance lighting before moving to Las Vegas and working in concert and nightlife, after which he moved to Los Angeles to work as a software specialist for the MA Lighting product line at A.C.T Lighting. Aron has been working on projects across the spectrum of live entertainment from designing concert experiences for artists to working on dance performances to interactive installations.
Rachel Stoll is a creative technologist who seeks to understand the connection point between humans, emotions, and technical interfaces. She currently works with Fortune 100 brands to solve these types of problems, and otherwise co-creates for entertainment clients.
