Spoken/Unspoken is a countywide collaboration that brought together eleven art venues across Santa Cruz County under a unifying theme. Pajaro Valley Arts hosts the final exhibit of this massive community endeavor, The Museum of Curious Perceptions. Participating galleries included the Cabrillo Gallery, Mary Porter Sesnon Gallery, Museum of Art and History, Museo Eduardo Carrillo, Pajaro Valley Arts, Porter Faculty Gallery, Radius Gallery, R. Blitzer Gallery, S. C. Art League, S.C. Library, S.C. Mountain Art Center.
Pajaro Valley Arts presents the final exhibit of the Spoken/Unspoken series, Museum of Curious Perceptions. Within the gallery a fictitious museum was created, complete with a mysterious Curator’s Office, Portrait Gallery, Control Room and four other exhibits.
In The Museum of Curious Perceptions are the story tellers – artists whose works speak. Their words reverberate throughout the galleries… unsounded whispers, mute cries, gagged laughter, thunderous unheard sighs – the splintering profundity of their unspoken words resound silently throughout each exhibit within this fictional museum. Look, watch and listen with your imagination. The artists in each of the exhibits mold and twist, conjure, proclaim, contort and extract a story from objects mundane and sublime. Be transported. Enter their stories.
Contributing artists include: Wendy Aikin, Jody Alexander, Marie Bergstedt, Charlene Doiron Reinhart, Steve Gompf, Hope Kroll, Victoria May, Beverly Rayner, Diane R. Ritch, Judy Stabile and Rose Sellery
