About Aromas Day

Aromas Day— a “day in the country” celebrates the biggest little village on the Central Coast! Every year it proves to be the most fun people can have with their clothes on. The itinerary:

Beginning at 9 am, the streets close to traffic and the town becomes a walking mall, opening up to visitors with a wide variety of attractions, including music, handcrafts, art, jewelry, food and drink, and other family-friendly activities. This year sees the addition of a fun new activity – Backstretch Horse Rescue, which will be giving horse-drawn wagon rides to attendees in order to raise awareness of their horse rescue operations.

For early risers, the day begins with an old-fashioned pancake breakfast at the Aromas Grange from 7 to 11 am. For just $8, enjoy eggs, pancakes, ham or sausage, and coffee and juice.

Then grab a beverage or a snack and sit down in the shade for a full day of free music and entertainment. There’s something for everyone, from having an opportunity to display their music skills to just settling in to listen to a diverse mix of sounds including:

Folklorico Youth Dancers (10 am)
Traditional Baile Folklorico performed by kids from Monterey and Santa Cruz County.

The Quarry Boys (11 am)
These upbeat songs will get your feet tapping. Featuring fun rock and roll covers everyone will love.

Doug the Surfing Magician (12 pm)
Doug Hofkins, a.k.a. the “Surfing Magician” has performed comedy magic shows all over the central coast for 15 years. Enjoy illusions, scarves, coins, animals, stage illusions, playing cards and more!

The Gold Souls (1 pm)
Featuring the driving grooves of funk, rich textures of soul, and the compelling storytelling of the blues with captivating lyrics and fresh arrangements over a vintage sound.

Blue Avenue (3 pm)
Original folk/blues Americana supported by select popular covers. Featuring original compositions by long-time Central Coast musician and former Nashville professional song writer Wayne Miller.

In addition to the Main Stage, Aromas Day offers a second stage for children that with singing, instrumental, and dancing performances, the Surfing Magician, along with pony rides, a petting zoo, and a climbing wall just for fun.

That’s not all. Just next door is the Classic Car Show with many beautifully maintained cars that are sure to bring back fond memories of days gone by. And just across the street is Garage Sale Alley with untold treasures waiting to be found. These are but a few of the many, many garage sales that pop up all over town on Aromas Day, so wear your walking shoes and bring the family and lots of empty shopping bags!

The Town Square Park is a lovely shady place to enjoy lunch while browsing the beautiful artwork, photography, and jewelry offered for sale by the Aromas Hills Artisans in their “Art in the Park” display.

And last, but not least, the town’s big parade begins at 2 pm through the streets of downtown Aromas. Word of mouth has made this parade an annual “must see”! For more information: www.aromasday.com

Aromas Day will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in downtown Aromas, California. Parking is located on Aromas Road, and a free wagon-ride shuttle service will be available to all throughout the day. ROADS THROUGH TOWN WILL BE CLOSED from 6 am to 5 pm, so follow the signs to the main parking lot. Aromas Day is the one and only festival in Aromas each year and draws several thousand guests. It has been sponsored and organized since 2003 by the Aromas Eagles with generous support from Graniterock, but is truly a community effort. It is created and run by volunteers and funded by our wonderful sponsors, including local companies and individuals that provide equipment, in-kind, and cash donations that make it all possible. This annual event has one goal in mind, and that is to inspire and support the children of Aromas by creating fundraising opportunities for our local non-profits and kids’ clubs.

Last year the event raised over $5,000 for Aromas School. Money raised by parking lot donations goes to the Home and School Club for 6th Grade Science Camp, so there is funding for every student who wants to go.

The entire community participates, making the list of commercial sponsors a long one: Graniterock, Gateway Properties, RE/MAX Realty, Driscoll’s Berries, C&N Tractors, RDO Equipment, Leeroy Bowles Transport Service, Memory Keeper Videos, Aromas Hills Artisans, Ascot Special Events, Recology, Marshall’s Market, Firehouse Market, Aromas Grange, AG History Project, and many more contribute to the success of this annual event.
