Anat Cohen Celebrando Brasil

About Anat Cohen Celebrando Brasil

Anat Cohen’s enthusiastic performances bring new energy to the often neglected clarinet. Once the preferred instrument of swing era legends Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Woody Herman, the clarinet was superseded by the brassier saxophone as the reed instrument of choice once the bebop era took hold. In recent years, the influences of Brazilian choros and traditional klezmer music have re-introduced the clarinet to the jazz world with Anat leading the charge. A regular jazz poll-winner, Cohen’s onstage exuberance is as contagious as her new CD, Luminosa.
