About All About Roses
Come visit Birdsong Orchards, an organic farm located in Watsonville to learn all about buying, planting & growing roses organically as well as arranging rose bouquets. All guests will have the opportunity to make and take home their own rose bouquet.
Who doesn’t love a beautiful rose? Honored throughout history and poetry as one of the loveliest flowers, roses are easy to grow in California, perfect for home gardens, patios or simply to enjoy in a bouquet. Most roses sold commercially are a tiny subset of the thousands of cultivars grown around the world. Nadine grows many varieties not commonly found, chosen for their spectacular blooms, colors, shapes and fragrances.
This workshop will start with a brief overview discussing sourcing and growing roses in your own home garden. Next, we will take you on a tour of roses growing in our field to see different varieties in their full glory and different stages of plant maturity. Finally, we will gather round to create gorgeous bouquets to take home. All of the roses, filler foliage and vases are provided as part of the workshop as well as a vegetarian lunch, beverages & homemade vanilla ice cream with rose petal jam topping for dessert!
This workshop is intended for ages 14 and up.
Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle, gloves, garden clippers and sun hat. This workshop will be held in Watsonville, CA. The address will be sent to ticket holders.
