Alchemizing Emotion Through Song

In this workshop, we will explore how the raw emotions that we feel can turn into amazing creative material to be expressed through song.

As humans, we go through countless emotions in our lives, and many daily. There are so many things to feel emotional about! Our relationships, the environment, the state of the world...
It is important to create safe containers and places to not only FEEL our emotions, but to CHANNEL them in constructive ways. The art of song creation can be a perfect way to distill and ‘alchemize’ these feeling states into art.

The 2-hour workshop will include:
- Vocal meditation and toning
- ‘Infinity Loop’ singing technique
- Structural singing mechanics
- Basic songwriting structure
- Exercises to get in touch with emotion
- Exercises in pouring emotion into song form
- ‘Song-catching’ games
- Sharing circle
- Integration circle

You will experience:
- Sharing (speaking)
-Sharing (singing) if you feel comfortable
-Group singing/toning
- Creative writing
-Guided meditation
-Dance/guided creative movement

Please bring:
- Your intention
- A water bottle
- A journal and pen


This workshop is a time to get in touch with your feeling & sensing self; it is for you if you are ready to a step into diving into your embodiment and full authentic creative expression.

About Heather Christie: Heather is a born-and-bred Santa Cruzian. She has studied expressive arts therapy at Tamalpa Institute, and received her yoga teaching certification through BambooYogaPlay in Costa Rica. Heather originated a curriculum for her own University class at the University of Washington on mind-body connection. Heather is primarily a singer-songwriter, producer and music artist or ‘musicpreneur’. Her music has been in countless playlists and dance floors around the world. Heather is a member of Santa Cruz based band Feral Fauna, as well as projects Sirens of Soul and Silk Drop. She has been doing independent music for 7 years. Heather has been singing for over 20 years. She is an artist on Jumpsuit Records, an eco-centric indie label started by The Polish Ambassador. She also runs her own booking company, 2 Suns Booking. Heather is passionate about uplifting other artists to create their best path, and loves helping people to find their voice.
