About 2nd Annual PAPÁS Father Involvement Conference

PAPÁS Supporting Father Involvement and Co-Parenting invites you to participate in the 2nd Annual Father Involvement Conference on Monday, November 9th 2015 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Santa Cruz Vets Hall 846 Front St, Santa Cruz CA.

The goal of the conference is to educate, train, present ideas and create dialogue on the importance of positive father involvement. We will explore and address issues concerning the impact of absent fathers in lives of children and in systems such as Child Welfare, Child Support, Early Childhood Education, Juvenile and Adult Probation and Incarceration system and Family Court. In keeping with the multidisciplinary spirit of the PAPÁS program, we encourage practitioners, educators, parents, business owners, community leaders, researchers and advocates representing all aspects of Social Services, Early Childhood Education, Domestic Violence providers, Criminal Justices and Child Welfare to participate.
Conference Highlights:
State of Fatherhood in Santa Cruz County and the new initiatives to engage young fathers and low income fathers will change our community.
Conversation with local young fathers and mothers about their motivation, challenges and needs in the 21st century as young parents in Santa Cruz County.
Community discussion on local efforts and activities to engage and support father involvement and father friendliness in our community.
Conversation with experts about nurturing co-parenting and understanding fathers.
Screening of “The Mask You Live In” one of the most powerful films about boys, young man and fathers.

Hon. Denine J. Guy is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Cruz County in California. She was appointed by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in June 2006 to succeed Kathleen Akao. Judge Guy was re-elected in 2008. She was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires in January of 2021. Judge Guy received her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and a J.D. from Monterey College of Law.
Jamie Hollomon JD, LMFT is local a therapist localted in Aptos area. Mr Hollomon has a loads of education and experience. He earned an MS in psychology from CA State University, Chico, his JD from University of Pennsylvania and my BA from Harvard. He moved down to Santa Cruz in 2011 after retiring from a counseling agency up north - Butte County Behavioral Health. His has over 17 years at clinics in Chico, Paradise and Oroville, He has treated more than a thousand families, or about 3,500 adults and children.
