The Brothers Comatose play Saturday afternoon in the redwoods.

There are old traditions we’d be happy never to have to see again—outhouses, leg warmers—but the Redwood Mountain Faire is one custom we’re glad is back. For 16 years, from 1980 to 1996, the San Lorenzo Valley Women’s Club threw a great big music party every summer. The Redwood Mountain Faire drew big names like Etta James and David Grisman in its heyday, but eventually it sputtered out. In 2010 it returned with a bang and has been steadily gaining ground ever since, last year’s insanely cold and rainy weather notwithstanding.

This year the Faire, scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, June 2-3 at Roaring Camp in Felton, features another remarkable lineup. Saturday it’s the Brothers Comatose, Dan P. and the Bricks.html, Moonalice, SambaDa, Wooster, The Soft White Sixties,  The Coffis Brothers, Funkranomicon, Take 1, 3upFront and Pour House.

On Sunday look for David Lindley, Sista Monica, Extra Large, Sherry Austin with Henhouse, Red Beans and Rice,  the Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit, Tater Famine, Three Time Loser with Dayan Kai, Big Bambu and Coffee Zombie Collective.

Tickets are $18 a day in advance or $30 for both days. Buy them here.
